What happens after you reach out
No mystery and no pressure. Here is the whole sequence.
1. We have a conversation
You tell me what you do, where you serve, who your customers are and what you have tried before. Most agencies open with their pitch. I open with your situation, because the right answer depends on your market, not on my package list.
2. I look at your site and your competitors
Before any advice, I pull up your website, check your Google Business Profile and look at your competitors’ Map Pack positions. Twenty minutes, no charge. It is the same first pass I run in a paid SEO audit.
3. I give you a straight recommendation
Sometimes the answer is hire me. Sometimes it is fix these three things yourself and call me in six months. Sometimes it is spend the money on Google Ads instead. I will say the one that is true even when it costs me the sale.
4. If we move forward

Who you are actually talking to
My name is David Cragg. BA in economics from UCLA, cum laude. MBA in marketing, with honors, from the University of Washington. I held positions at Microsoft, Exxon and SMC before starting my first internet marketing company in 1990.
Over the following fifteen years I built and ran two of them, Lotus411.com and MSD2D.com, serving clients that included Microsoft, IBM, HP, Intel, Dell and The Irvine Company. I sold both to the largest publishers in their industries and retired at 50. The dates, the buyers and the public records are all on the about page.
Now I work with small businesses in Tucson, Oro Valley, Marana, Green Valley and across Southern Arizona. I charge a fraction of what this much experience costs inside an agency because my overhead is small and my retirement is already funded. I would rather help a dozen small businesses grow than chase one large contract.

How quickly will you get back to me?
If you call and I am on another line, I call back within the hour rather than within the business day. Email gets a reply the same day, usually the same hour. Text is the fastest way to reach me if you are somewhere you cannot talk.
What happens on the first call?
You tell me about your business, your market and what you have already tried. Then I pull up your website, check your Google Business Profile and look at where your competitors sit in the Map Pack. That takes about twenty minutes and costs nothing.
Do I need to prepare anything before we talk?
Nothing formal. It helps if you know your website address, whether you can still log into your Google Business Profile, and who handled your SEO before me. If you do not know any of that, I can find most of it while we are on the phone.
Do we have to meet in person?
No. Almost all of my work happens by phone, email and screen share, which is how I have worked with clients in other states for years. If you are in Tucson and would rather sit down in person, say so and we will set a time.
Can I call with just a question, without hiring anyone?
Yes. I answer SEO questions from people who are not clients and may never be clients. Most of my client relationships started as a free answer to a question somebody thought was too small to ask.
