What SEO costs in Tucson, explained by consultant David Cragg

How Much Does SEO Cost in Tucson?

$1,000 a month, flat. No setup fee, no contract, and the same price in month one as in year five.

My name is David Cragg and I run Tucson SEO. Almost nobody in this town will put a number on a web page, so let me go first, then show you the rest of the Tucson SEO pricing market tier by tier and what you actually get at each one. If you are collecting quotes right now, this page is the one to read before you sign anything.

The short version
  • My price: $1,000 a month, everything included.
  • The Tucson market: $200 to $500 offshore, $1,500 to $2,500 small agency, $3,000 to $5,000+ full service.
  • Setup fee: None. Contract: None. Termination fee: None.
  • What moves the price: your trade, your zones, the condition of your site, and how much content actually gets published.
  • Exclusivity: one client per niche, per zone. I will not take your competitor.

What SEO Costs in Tucson: The Four Price Tiers

These are the four bands every Tucson business ends up choosing between. The numbers come from what my clients tell me they were quoted before they called me, and from what I find when I audit a site somebody else was running.

What you are buying Typical Tucson price What usually comes with it
Offshore or "SEO package" resellers $200 to $500 a month Automated reports, spun content, directory blasts. I have cleaned up several of these. It usually costs more to undo than it did to buy.
Small local Tucson agency $1,500 to $2,500 a month Two to four blog posts, some Google Business Profile work, a monthly PDF. Usually a twelve-month contract. The work is done by whoever is junior that quarter.
Full-service agency or franchise $3,000 to $5,000+ a month A real team, a real account manager, and a real setup fee. Often bundled with ad spend so the SEO line item is hard to see. Twelve months minimum.
One experienced consultant (me) $1,000 a month Three to ten new pages, on-page work, Google Business Profile, citations, technical monitoring, two reports. No setup fee. No contract.

The gap between the second row and the fourth row is not skill. It is payroll. An agency covers a lease, a salesperson, and an account manager before anyone opens your site. The full list of what the flat fee buys is on my Tucson SEO services page.

What Drives Tucson SEO Pricing

Four things move an SEO quote in this market. Know them before you accept any number, including mine.

  • How competitive your trade is. Ranking a chiropractor in Green Valley is a different job than ranking an HVAC company in central Tucson against fifteen established shops. Same work, different timeline.
  • How many zones you want. Covering Tucson proper is one thing. Covering Tucson plus Oro Valley, Marana, Sahuarita, and Vail means separate location pages, separate keyword sets, and more content every month.
  • What shape your site is in. A slow, broken, or penalized site needs technical repair before content does anything at all. I do that repair inside the $1,000. Most agencies bill it as a separate project, and that is where a $1,500 quote becomes $3,000 in month one.
  • How much content gets published. This is the one that matters most and the one that gets quietly cut. Content is the compounding part. Two posts a month and ten pages a month produce very different curves after a year, and the difference keeps widening.

When you compare quotes, reduce every one of them to a single number: how many real pages get written for you each month, and by whom. That number predicts your results better than the price does. Here is how I write and publish content every month.

What Should Never Cost Extra

These are the usual places a $1,500 quote turns into $2,400 by the third invoice. Ask about every one of them in writing.

  • Setup or onboarding fees
  • Technical fixes billed as a separate audit engagement
  • Extra charges per page beyond a small monthly quota
  • Google Business Profile management sold as an add-on
  • Reporting or dashboard access as a paid tier
  • An early termination fee for leaving inside twelve months

None of those exist here. One price, one invoice, and you can stop any month you want. If you want the list of what is included instead of what is excluded, it is in the FAQ below, and the technical half is described on my SEO audit page.

Not sure what your situation should cost?

Call me and describe your trade and your service area. I will tell you honestly whether $1,000 a month is enough to win your keywords, or whether your market is one where you would be better off putting that money into ads instead. I have told people that before and lost the sale over it.

Why I Can Charge $1,000 When Agencies Charge $3,000

Tucson small business owner reviewing monthly SEO results

A price that far below the local market raises an obvious question, so here is the straight answer. Four reasons, and none of them is that you get less.

  • No office. I do not lease a suite on Oracle Road or pay a receptionist. My overhead is a laptop and my tools.
  • No sales team. When you call (520) 207-6000, I answer. Nobody sits between you and the person doing the work.
  • Speed. A task that takes a junior specialist three hours takes me forty-five minutes. I have done it thousands of times since 1990. That savings goes to you, not to my margin.
  • I do not need the money. I sold two internet marketing companies and retired at 50. That changes the whole dynamic, and you can read the rest of that story on my About page.

Month to Month, and Why That Matters More Than the Price

I have never used a contract. Not once, since 1990.

A twelve-month agreement protects the agency, not you. It exists because the first ninety days of SEO produce very little visible movement, and a client who can leave in month three sometimes does. The honest fix for that is to explain the timeline up front. The common fix is to lock the client in.

Month to month also changes who carries the risk. If I stop producing, I lose the account, so my incentive every single month is your rankings and your phone calls. An agency with your signature on a year of invoices has already been paid for the months it has not worked yet.

Some of my clients have been with me more than five years on a handshake. That is the only performance guarantee worth anything, and it is the reason I will not ask you for a signature.

I have been using Dave's SEO services for over 5 years now. I am thrilled with the results. I highly recommend Dave to anyone looking for a great SEO partner.

One Client Per Niche, Per Zone

Most agencies will not tell you this. They take several clients in the same trade in the same city, and they bill all of them.

The math does not work. The Google map pack has three slots. If an agency has four plumbing clients in Tucson, somebody loses by design, and the agency still collects four invoices.

I take one client per competitive niche in each zone. If I already work with a plumber in Oro Valley, I turn down the next one. My full effort goes to beating your competitors instead of being split between two businesses that want the same rankings. If your category and area are already taken, I tell you on the first call rather than after you have paid.

Tucson SEO Pricing Questions I Get Every Week

How much does SEO cost in Tucson?

Most Tucson SEO agencies charge between $1,500 and $5,000 a month, and cheap offshore packages run $200 to $500 a month but usually do more harm than good. I charge $1,000 a month flat. That covers on-page optimization, three to ten new pages of content, Google Business Profile management, citation building, technical SEO monitoring, and two monthly reports. There is no setup fee and no long-term contract.

Why is Tucson SEO pricing so different from one company to the next?

Price mostly reflects overhead and how much content actually gets published, not skill. An agency with an office, a sales team, and account managers has to cover that payroll before anyone touches your site. The number that matters is how many real pages get written for you each month and who writes them. Ask any company you are considering for that number in writing.

What do I get each month for $1,000?

You get three to ten new pages of original content, on-page optimization of your existing pages, Google Business Profile management and posts, citation building and cleanup, technical checks covering Core Web Vitals and crawl errors, weekly plugin and theme updates, quarterly spam link monitoring, and two reports covering rankings and traffic. I do all of it myself.

Are there any setup fees or extra charges?

No. There is no onboarding fee, no charge for technical repairs, no per-page fee above the monthly quota, and no cost to access your reports. One price covers everything, and there is no penalty for leaving.

Why are you cheaper than other Tucson SEO agencies?

I sold two internet marketing companies and retired at 50, so I have no office lease, no sales team, and no payroll to cover. Working in search since 1990 also means a task that takes a junior specialist three hours takes me forty-five minutes. That savings goes to the client instead of to agency overhead.

Do you require a contract?

No. Everything is month to month. If the results are there you stay, and if they are not you leave. Some of my clients have stayed more than five years on a handshake, which tells you more about the work than any contract would.

What happens if I want to stop?

You tell me, and the work ends with the month you have already paid for. There is no termination fee and no notice period. I hand back everything: your WordPress logins, ownership of your Google Business Profile, your Search Console and Analytics access, and every page I wrote. It is your property and it stays on your site.

How do I know the work is actually getting done?

You get two reports every month, one for keyword rankings and one for traffic, and I walk you through both. You also keep administrator access to your own WordPress, Search Console, and Analytics, so you can check the raw numbers any time without going through me. Every page I publish is dated and sitting on your site where you can read it.

Is $1,000 a month enough to win a competitive Tucson market?

In most Tucson categories it is, because the companies you are competing against are buying two blog posts a month from an agency. In the hardest categories, personal injury law and the corporate dental groups, a flat thousand dollars a month will not outrun a large ad and content budget. I will tell you which of those you are in on the first call, before you pay me anything.

Will you take my competitor as a client?

No. I take one client per competitive niche in each geographic zone. I will not rank two plumbers in Oro Valley against each other. If I already have someone in your exact category and area, I will tell you on the first call.

Wondering how long it takes before the money starts working, or what local SEO covers that regular SEO does not? Both are answered on the home page. Who does the work and where I came from are on the About page.
